Grand opening of Ernst & Young’s new SWFC office

On August 16, international accounting firm Ernst & Young (E&Y) held the grand opening of its new office in the SWFC. E&Y now occupies eight floors in the SWFC, covering approximately 30,000 square meters, and brings together all of E&Y’s 2,500 employees in Shanghai under the one roof for the first time.
The grand opening ceremony was held over two floors – 28/F and 29/F – and officiated by Mr. Xu Lin, Party Secretary of Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Government. Mr. Hiroo Mori, Chairman, and Mr. Akio Yoshimura, General Manager of Shanghai World Financial Center Co., Ltd., participated in the ribbon cutting and welcomed E&Y to their enlarged home in the SWFC.
Mr. James Turley, Global Chairman and CEO of E&Y, and Mr. Louis Pagnutti, E&Y’s Asia Pacific Area Managing Partner, congratulated E&Y China on its Shanghai office expansion. Mr. Albert Ng, E&Y’s China Chairman and Greater China Managing Partner, said, “There are a lot of major Chinese and multinational companies that have moved to Pudong. Being the first international accounting firm to come to Pudong, we are confident that the Pudong New Area will become a leading international financial center.”

SWFC 2010 Midsummer’s Night event

This year’s ‘Midsummer’s Night’ was another success for an event which has become a fixture on the SWFC’s annual calendar. Held in the SWFC’s Sunken Garden, guests enjoyed world famous draft beers, delicious snacks and live performances. The coolness of the SWFC’s Sunken Garden was a welcome respite against the summer heat wave. Temperatures in Shanghai rose above 35 degrees Celsius for 29 days of the month - a once-in-a-century phenomenon, according to the local weather observatory.
