Hang Seng Bank Tower lights the way for the weather |
A new function added to the uplights of the Hang Seng Bank Tower is a weather forecast for the following day. Gold means sunny, white means cloudy and dark blue spells rain. SWFC's superlative structure
|
● Structural engineering
The SWFC's Dual Lateral Force system combines an exterior mega structure of composite perimeter columns with a service core constructed using SRC tubes. The structural design was supervised by the world eminent American structural engineering firm, Leslie E. Robertson and Associates, RLLP (LERA).
● Building structure
The office tower features a distinctive diagonal-braced frame with exterior and core walls, with the tower's weight distributed on a mat slab. The building is additionally supported by 2,200 steel tubing bearing piles inserted up to 78 meters into the ground.
● Building sway controlled by tuned mass dampers
Two vibration control systems consisting of tuned mass dampers (TMDs) and a 150-ton counterweight are installed on the 90th floor to reduce building sway and control vibration caused by high winds. |
